Nakita Reed has spent her career working to combine historic preservation with sustainable design. She has experience in combining historic tax credits and LEED certification. Nakita received her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia. She went on to pursue architecture, preservation, and sustainable design at the University of Pennsylvania where she earned a Master's of Architecture degree, a Master's of Science in Historic Preservation degree, and a Certificate of Ecological Architecture.
w. wARD BUCHER, III
Ward has built a career designing and preserving spaces people love. He has extensive experience in adaptive use of existing buildings throughout the United States and has won numerous awards in his architectural practice. He has helped multiple clients receive millions of dollars in historic tax credits. Ward received his Bachelor of Building Science and his Bachelor of Architecture degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He wrote The Dictionary of Building Preservation and has over 40 years of experience as a registered architect.
Encore Sustainable Design was co-founded in 2012 by Nakita Reed and W. Ward Bucher, III with the goal to green existing and historic buildings and (re)create spaces people love. In 2015, Encore merged with Ward’s other firm, the Bucher/Borges Group, and has continued to blend historic preservation and sustainable design.
