As the first condominium conversion in the Columbia Heights neighborhood, the 18-unit Maxwell Condominiums lead the way for a wave of revitalization. The 1000% ROI of the historic renovation of the 1930’s building is impressive. The building, bought in poor condition, was carefully returned to former high end glory. While it was not located in a historic district, Maxwell was renovated with respect to the character of the building, keeping the original parquet floors and 2nd floor terrace, while adding third floor balconies matching the original balustrades. The new (and challenging) construction of underground parking and a gorgeous view of the Washington Monument were among the additional amenities of the property which helped sell all of its units in less than six months.
